Wonderful collections of clockwork tin toys, dolls, old board games and educational material of the 20th and 21st century are there for you to enjoy and discover them!

Room A

Start with a tour “… within a classroom from the old days”. Textbooks, documents, items from everyday school life, plates and dip pens, sacks and aprons, school books complement the picture of the traditional Greek classroom. The exhibits are a ticket for a trip in the history of Greek education entitled “Education in Greece from the 19th to the 20th century” and a triggering reminiscence of innocent school memories. The exhibits are mainly donations made by schools, teachers and friends. A central donation is the personal collection of Mr. Nikolaos Ladikos a retired primary school teacher in Anafi, Cyclades.

By playing in the Museum’s traditional classroom the students have the chance to discover and get to know the old school, the teacher and the student. They learn all about the teaching method interactively, through images, videos, experiential activities, toys, school books and objects from a past school life…like the old times!

Room B

At Room B, permanent exhibitions with toys await you.

A permanent collection with toys entitled “Playing with forgotten wind-up tin toys”, “Dolls and doll houses” with exhibits that are donations and grants of the museum’s beloved friends and finally “The toy makers of Thessaloniki”, a tribute to the toy makers of Thessaloniki.

Beautiful paintings full of life, toys and colors invite children to play with them, find the toys and compose their own original works. The young painters will work with colors and imagination creating their own imaginary world of toys!
